Many people have often wondered what The Home Builders Association (HBA) of Greater Toledo is all about.

The HBA is an association of builders and people who provide services for the building industry. It is composed of 600+ member companies who believe that home ownership should be within the reach of every American family.

Chartered in 1943, the organization is affiliated with the National Home Builders Association (www.nahb.org) and the Ohio Home Builders Association (www.ohba.com). The HBA of Greater Toledo is an active group dedicated to promoting and enhancing the professionalism of the building and associated industries in Northwest Ohio.

This goal is achieved through strong support and representation of the industry in both the government and private sectors. The Home Builders Association of Greater Toledo is a nonprofit association governed by a body of elected directors. Individuals from the entire membership act as directors for the HBA. These members are responsible for the direction and success of the association. But, of course, they do not do it alone. A professional full-time staff performs the day-to-day business.

Members receive numerous benefits for their active participation in the association. Some of these benefits include: Representation of your industry's needs before local, state and national government; Networking and marketing opportunities; State and national information, education, training and technical assistance; Top notch publications from the HBA, OHBA, and NAHB program; Worker's compensation group rate and health insurance programs and Dramatic discounts on products and services through national, state and local activities and programs.

The HBA of Greater Toledo provides several avenues for members to obtain even more from their membership. Membership in this Association provides the opportunity to be involved in a number of exciting and rewarding activities. Of course, the more involved a member is, the more he or she will receive in the way of business contacts and personal friendships. Members are encouraged to support and volunteer for any one or more of the following Councils and/or Committees:

HBA Councils are: Apartment Council - Associate Council - Remodelors Council(tm) - Sales & Marketing Council HBA Committees are: Affordable Housing/ CDC - Build PAC - Codes/Liaison - Easy Living - Golf Outing Grievance & Ethics - Land Development -Membership/Spike/Retention.

In addition to the many opportunities the HBA provides for its members, we also host events that allow our members to showcase their abilities to the general public. Most recently was our 2003 HBA Sky Bank Fall Parade of Homes, which was held at Legacy Estates in Bedford Township, MI. These parade of homes are a wonderful way for people to see what is the trend in home building, designing and products available. The next public event will be the House & Homes Show, February 20-22, 2004, held at the Seagate Convention Centre in downtown Toledo.

The Home Builders Association would like to thank not only the many committed members, but also the public for their continued dedication and support to this fine organization.
