Median area home price rises 5.2% in quarter

The median price of existing homes in the Toledo area rose to $108,700 in the first three months of this year, a 5.2 percent increase from $103,300 in the last quarter of 2003, according to figures released yesterday by the National Association of Realtors.

The first-quarter price was less than 1 percent ahead of the same period a year ago, when the median was $107,800 in the Toledo area.

Nationwide, the median cost for an existing home was $170,800 in the first quarter, up from $160,400 a year ago and $172,200 in the last quarter of 2003. First-quarter prices ranged from $82,300 in the South Bend-Mishawaka, Ind., area to $597,300 in the San Francisco Bay area.
