Home prices in metro Toledo declined by 8.8 percent in January compared to the same month a year earlier, data analysis company CoreLogic said Wednesday.

The company’s data, which was released as part of its January home price index, includes distressed sales, that is, short sales and real estate-owned transactions. Excluding distressed sales, home prices fell by just 0.5 percent, Santa Ana, Calif.-based CoreLogic said.

Nationally, CoreLogic said home prices experienced their sixth consecutive monthly decline, falling 3.1 percent in January compared to a year ago. Excluding distressed sales, home prices fell 0.9 percent.
