Annual tour of homes scheduled in Sandusky
11/26/2012SANDUSKY — The Old House Guild of Sandusky will hold its annual Christmas Candlelight Tour of Homes, featuring five private residences, two museum houses, and the Calvary Temple, on Dec. 2 and 3.
The private residences include several occupied houses and apartments in Sandusky, many decorated for the holidays.
Also on the tour is one unoccupied, but recently restored, apartment that shows “what living in downtown Sandusky can be like,” according to the Old House Guild.
The Calvary Temple is the former Western Security Bank, transformed into a house of worship after its purchase by the congregation in October, 1974.
During both nights of the tour, punch and cookies will be served at the Follett House Museum, built at 404 Wayne St. by a prominent citizen between 1834 and 1837.
Drawings for door prizes and raffles for the Porch of Wreaths will be held at the Cooke House Museum, 1415 Columbus Ave., which was built by Sandusky’s first lawyer in 1844-45 and was moved to its current location in 1878.
Tours will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. each night.
Tickets cost $10 and may be purchased in advance at the Follett House, Cooke House, Bailey’s Country Shoppe, Corso’s Flower and Garden Center, Lake Erie Shores & Islands, Flowerama, and Barnes Nursery in Huron.
