Sales of foreclosed homes up 13% in Toledo area

Sales of metro Toledo homes either foreclosed upon or in some stage of foreclosure rose 13 percent in the third quarter compared to the same period a year ago, according to data from real estate data firm RealtyTrac Inc.

The Irvine, Calif., firm said 569 foreclosure-related housing units were sold in the July-September period. That was a 66 percent increase from the second quarter, when just 343 sales occurred.

The average sales price of the homes in foreclosure was $64,072, an increase of 6 percent from 2011’s third quarter, according to RealtyTrac.

In Ohio, 6,309 homes in foreclosure were sold in the third quarter, up 20 percent from a year ago. Ohio homes in foreclosure sold for an average price of $81,453 in the quarter, RealtyTrac said.
