Hearing to address sisters' rezoning issue

Sylvania City Council has scheduled a public hearing regarding the rezoning request for the site of the former Franciscan Academy for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Council Chambers, 6635 Maplewood Ave.

The request submitted by the Sisters of St. Francis seeks to change the 10-acre property at 5335 Silica Dr. from an R-2 residential small lot, to R-1 residential large lot, which would allow the existing building to be used for secondary education.
