5 South Toledo churches hang `Jesus' videos on 10,000 doors

Volunteers from five South Toledo churches passed out more than 10,000 Easter gifts last weekend: free copies of the Jesus video and an invitation to Easter services.

About 300 church members hung gift bags containing the video on the doors of every house in Toledo's 43614 ZIP Code.

“I thought it was just a really, really exciting event,” said the Rev. Chuck Campbell, pastor of All Saints Lutheran Church on Heatherdowns Boulevard. “It was really good to see five churches from different denominations come together and work for the common good of sharing that video.”

Along with All Saints, the churches that participated were Church of the Cross United Methodist on Cass Road, Gateway Community Church on Heatherdowns, St. Petri Lutheran Church on South Byrne Road, and Calvary Assembly of God on Glendale Avenue.

The Jesus video was produced by Warner Bros. Studios after being commissioned by Campus Crusade for Christ International. Since its release in 1979, the evangelical video reportedly has been seen by more than 4.4 billion people worldwide.

“I have a DVD copy of it here that is in three languages and subtitled in six,” said the Rev. Michael Denman of Church of the Cross. “They have produced the Jesus video in languages that are not even
