40-YEAR JOURNEY REMEMBERED

10/2/2004

Nine-year-old Tzemach Shemtov places slats atop a sukkah, or makeshift dwelling, outside Chabad House-Lubavitch in Toledo to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, also called the 'Feast of Tabernacles' or 'Festival of Booths.' Many modern-day Jews build sukkahs in their yards during the holiday to recall the temporary dwelling places of the Israelites when Moses led them on a 40-year journey through the desert. Among the Sukkot events will be a community-wide celebration from 5 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Chadbad House, 4020 Nantucket Dr.
