Erase the Hate to hold closing event

Our Youth, Our Heritage, Our Future, the closing event in this year s Erase the Hate campaign, will be held at 4 p.m. tomorrow in the Franciscan Center at Lourdes College, 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania.

Six finalists will be presented in the Erase the Hate video contest for junior and senior high school students. The contest, sponsored by the MultiFaith Council of Northwest Ohio and WGTE-TV (Channel 30), will honor the students who produced the best 60-second videos reflecting the mission and vision of the Erase the Hate campaign.

Tomorrow s event will feature performances by J.J. Express, the Perrysburg High School Jazz Singers, Bal Vihar Youth from the Hindu Temple, and the Central Catholic Gospel Choir.

Among the scheduled speakers are Toledo City Council President Louis Escobar, the Rev. Mansour Bey, Rabbi Barry Leff, Dr. Samina Hasan, Dr. Lorna Gonsalves, and U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D., Toledo).

Erase the Hate is a collaboration of more than 20 educational, religious, and community organizations and agencies working to promote the appreciation of diversity.
