Orphans agency to greet delegation of Russians

3/25/2006

Friends of Russian Orphans, or FORO, a Christian humanitarian agency based in Sylvania, will welcome a delegation of Russian visitors who will be in the Toledo area Wednesday through April 4.

The delegation will be led by Valery Nuromsky, who oversees approximately 50 orphanages as deputy minister of education of the Arkhangelsk Region of Russia. Also visiting will be Irinia Sergeevna Simonova, FORO s Moscow-based facilitator.

On Wednesday night, FORO will hold a formal fund-raising dinner, An Evening for Angels, in the Franciscan Center of Lourdes College, celebrating three years of ministry helping Russian orphans.

FORO was founded in 2003 by Phillip and Lisa Wurster of Sylvania after they adopted a Russian infant and saw firsthand the spiritual and practical needs of the nearly 1 million children living in Russian orphanages.
