17th annual Festival of India will have theme featuring Taal: Rhythm of India

The 17th Annual Festival of India, whose theme is Taal: Rhythm of India, will include a number of religious ceremonies along with the lure of Indian food, exotic music, and colorful costumes.

The festival will begin with a Ganesh puja, a religious ceremony to honor Ganesh, the elephant-headed Hindu God of Knowledge, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Hindu Temple of Toledo, 4336 King Rd., Sylvania.

A Venkateshwara puja is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Aug. 5 followed by a Satyanarayana puja at 11 a.m.

The last day of the festival, Aug. 6, includes a Mahavir puja at 9 a.m. and a Havan at 10:30 a.m.

Parking will be at the Tam-O-Shanter Sports Center, 7060 West Sylvania Ave., with free shuttle service to the Temple.
