Jehovah s Witnesses dedicate new kingdom hall in Toledo

11/17/2006

A dedication program will be held this weekend for the new kingdom hall of Jehovah s Witnesses at 3725 West Alexis Rd.

The 5,000-square-foot kingdom hall was built for about $340,000, but would have cost $1.5 million if not for volunteer help, said John Harrington, a Jehovah s Witnesses spokesman.

The building was completed in June and is shared by two congregations of about 100 people each. Dedication services are set for 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. today and 9:30 tomorrow.

There are eight kingdom halls and 13 congregations in the Toledo area. Jehovah s Witnesses, founded in Allegheny, Pa., in the late 1870s, have approximately 6.5 million members in 235 nations, including 35,000 in Ohio.
