OBERLIN, Ohio Nearly 400 church leaders from across the country will assess the Christian ecumenical movement in a July 19-23 conference at Oberlin College titled On Being Christian Together.

The meeting is scheduled on the 50th anniversary of the first session of the Faith and Order Commission of the National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA, which also was held at Oberlin College.

Theologians and religious leaders will evaluate the previous 50 years of the ecumenical movement in the United States as they seek to strategically plan the future of ecumenism in the 21st century.

The event is sponsored by the NCC, which represents 35 Orthodox, Protestant, Anglican, historic African-American, and traditional peace churches with 44 million members.
