Members of local Christian, Jewish, Muslim, and Hindu groups will come together Thursday night for the third annual Interfaith Hunger Awareness Service, titled The Face of Hunger Will Surprise You.

The Rev. Lee Powell, senior pastor of CedarCreek Church, will be the speaker and the service will feature prayers, readings, and music and dance from various faith traditions.

The purpose of the service is to raise awareness for hunger-relief efforts and to raise support for the Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank, Inc.

More than 207,000 Ohioans and 35 million Americans are living on the brink of hunger, according to the food bank, which provides food and grocery products to 250 area nonprofit agencies. Nearly 60 percent of the agencies distributing the food bank s supplies are faith-based organizations.

The Interfaith Hunger Awareness Service starts at 7 p.m. at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 915 North Reynolds Rd. Information: 419-242-5000 or online at www.toledofoodbank.org.
