Hanukkah Palooza, book fair slated at Sylvania synagogue

It s Hanukkah Palooza time again, when the Jewish community joins together for a concert and more in celebrating the upcoming holiday of Hanukkah.

The Mama Doni Band, a modern Jewish rock group from New York, will be featured at Hanukkah Palooza, which starts at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Temple-Congregation Shomer Emunim, 6453 Sylvania Ave., Sylvania.

Hanukkah Palooza has become a must-attend event for families in our community, said Rene Rusgo, director of Jewish community programs for the United Jewish Council of Greater Toledo.

The eight-day holiday of Hanukkah begins at sundown Dec. 21.

The Temple is also hosting the Northwest Ohio Jewish Book Fair, which starts tomorrow and runs through Thursday.

The book fair will feature lectures and autograph sessions with authors Anne-Marie Asner, Tami Lehman Wilzig, Christos Naciola, and Lisa Alcalay Klug starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

The book fair also includes a lunch and lecture at noon Monday with Rabbi Sherre Hirsch; a lecture by Joanne Caras at 7 p.m. Wednesday, and a lecture by Ruth Menzoff at 1 p.m. Thursday.
