Epworth sets events to mark 50 years at site

Epworth United Methodist church will celebrate 50 years at its current location, 3077 Valleyview Drive across from Wildwood Metropark, with two 50th Jubilee Celebration Services Sunday, at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.

The former church building at Parkwood and Delaware avenues was destroyed by an arson fire in 1958, and Epworth dedicated its new facility in 1961.

Jubilee events will include a sermon by former pastor the Rev. Barry DeShetler, a specially commissioned choral composition, and a reception.
