App developers slate day of sharing Bible globally
12/24/2011Developers of YouVersion Bible App, a free mobile app that offers more than 100 translations of the Bible in a number of languages, have announced a “Global Share the Bible Day” for Christmas Day. The concept is for YouVersion users to bring attention to God and the Bible through social media.
“It’s easy to get caught up in the busyness surrounding the holidays and lose sight of what Christmas is about: God’s gift to the world of His only Son. ‘Global Share the Bible Day’ helps us remind ourselves and others. It creates great opportunities to start conversations about our faith,” YouVersion said in a press release.
The digital mobile Bible was developed by LifeChurch.tv and has been downloaded more than 30 million times since its release in July, 2008.
“Before the Bible was distributed widely through print, it was primarily shared by word of mouth. Now this timeless practice is finding new life as the YouVersion community shares verses and insights through their social networks,” said Bobby Gruene- wald, pastor and innovation leader of LifeChurch.tv and co-founder of YouVersion.
