King James Bible show near end at art museum
1/21/2012An exhibit of first-edition King James Bibles will come to an end on Jan. 29, the Toledo Museum of Art announced.
The display, which opened in September, commemorated the 400th anniversary of the first printing of the King James Bible.
The exhibit of the Toledo Museum of Art's two rare copies had been so popular that the exhibit was extended four weeks.
The King James Bible, first printed in 1611, has been used by U.S. presidents from George Washington to Barack Obama during their swearing-in ceremonies and has introduced many common phrases into the English language, including "bite the dust" and "at death's door."
