YES-FM 89.3 celebrates 20 years on the radio

On Wednesday, YES-FM (89.3) is having a birthday party. Celebrating 20 years on the air, WYSZ-FM (89.3) in Toledo, a Christian radio station that plays rock, hip hop, and pop music and presents a half-hour Prayer Closet at 9 a.m. weekdays, will open its doors at 5105 Glendale Ave., Suite C, to the public for studio tours from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and will serve light refreshments.

Over the air on Wednesday, listeners can hear the Top 100 songs from YES-FM’s 20 years of broadcasting, starting at 6 a.m. After the No. 1 song is played, the list will repeat. Throughout the day, former YES-FM disc jockeys will be at the microphone along with current DJs.

YES-FM in Toledo and Lima also has frequencies for Fremont (88.1) and Wauseon (88.5).

As the station’s third decade begins, keep an eye on the horizon — or an ear to the speaker — for a programming announcement soon, YES-FM promotions director Cindy Ursell said.
