Festival of 6 films slated at B’nai Israel

Footnote, a 2011 story about the relationship and differences between father and son Talmudic scholars, opens the 2012 Jewish Film Festival at 7 tonight at Congregation B’nai Israel, 6525 Sylvania Ave., Sylvania.

The festival presents six films — three this weekend, three more on Dec. 1 and 2.

Showing on Sunday are the documentaries Protocols of Zion (2005), which explores anti-Semitism, at 1 p.m. and Ahead of Time (2009), a profile of Ruth Gruber that traces her seven decades of adventures as a foreign correspondent, photographer, and intellect who was called the conscience of the world, at 7 p.m.

Three dramas will be shown in the festival’s second weekend: Campfire (2004) on Dec. 1 at 7 p.m., Emotional Arithmetic (2007) on Dec. 2 at noon, and Maya (2010) on Dec. 2 at 7 p.m.

All films are free.
