‘New Kind of Christian’ writer speaks next week

The Rev. Brian D. McLaren, a well-known former pastor and Christian author whose New Kind of Christian trilogy is being republished in paperback, will speak at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Sylvania First United Methodist Church. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Cost is $25.

He returns to the church Tuesday for Toledo’s session of the 2013 Ohio Ministries Convocation. It starts at 10:30 a.m. and is sponsored by Toledo Area Ministries, the Ohio Council of Churches, Cherry Street Mission Ministries, and the Salvation Army. Registration is $75; the student rate is $40.
