Plenty of religion-related musical shows are on the horizon

Plenty of religion-related musical shows are on the horizon. Among them:

This is the second and final day of the Salt Fork Gospel Jubilee at the Salt Fork Lodge and Conference Center, 14755 Cadiz Rd., Lore City, Ohio, on U.S. Route 22 East. Sixteen groups from seven states are on the schedule, and the music goes from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is free, but an offering is collected.

Today in Rockford, Ohio, the Rockford Belle at 135 Market St. presents Jessica King Matejek of Nashville, her parents’ band, Jess King and Country Gospel from Celina, Ohio, and Christian singer Linda Youmans of St. Marys, Ohio. The show is at 7 p.m. and is free, though donations are encouraged.

If symphonic music is more to your taste, the Valentine Theater is the place to be Sunday afternoon. The Toledo Symphony Chamber String Orchestra will perform Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons.” While the music is not traditionally religious, the beneficiaries are strongly in the spiritual realm because proceeds go to five communities of sisters in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Toledo: the Little Sisters of the Poor in Oregon, the Sisters of Notre Dame in Toledo, the Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Charity in Tiffin, the Sisters of St. Francis of the Congregation of Our Lady of Lourdes in Sylvania and the Ursuline Convent of the Sacred Heart in Toledo. The concert is at 2 p.m. and costs $50. For $50 more, you can attend a pre-event at the Valentine at 1 p.m. The theater is at 410 Adams St.

An hour before Sunday’s Glass City Gospel Celebration, Phillips Temple CME Church, 565 Palmwood Ave., hosts a free gospel concert at 5 p.m. as part of festivities leading up to its women’s day May 19. The Toledo Interfaith Mass Choir, the Brian Thomas Chorale, Judah Praise and Men, Ministry and Mime will perform.

On Friday the Trinity Performing Artist Series presents Madrigalfest! at 7 p.m., featuring the Perrysburg Symphony Chorale. It is at Trinity Episcopal Church, 316 Adams St. Tickets are $10 and $8, with a $5 student price an hour before the concert.

On April 28, North Dover United Methodist Church in Wauseon presents pianist Darlene Miller at 3:30 p.m. and the Rob Mills Family gospel group at 4 p.m. Admission is free, but there will be an offering taken. A free supper follows the concert. The church is on State Route 108, two miles north of Ohio Turnpike Exit 34 and the Fulton County Fairgrounds.

May 16-18 at the Spring Valley Campground, 8000 Dozer Rd., Cambridge, Ohio, is the weekend for the 21st annual homecoming Spring Gospel Sing of Southern gospel music. Three of the groups from the Salt Fork event are scheduled to appear. Four groups from Cambridge, Ohio, will sing May 16 starting at 7 p.m. May 17 is gospel bluegrass night at 7 p.m.; and May 18 has 22 groups scheduled, plus room for open talent to sign up that morning. Admission is free all three days. Performances start at 11:30 a.m. May 18. More information is available at
