SAMARIA — Flower sales, lemonade, and grilled bratwurst and hot dogs are among the fare at the 30th annual Samaria Day on Saturday in downtown Samaria, on Samaria Road halfway between Lewis Avenue and Jackman Road.

If the past festivals are any indication, “cars will be parked bumper to bumper and people will be having a good time. We’ll sell more than 1,000 sandwiches,” said Darlene Wells, an organizer. “The whole town opens up for garage sales.”

The six-hour event is a fund-raiser for Grace United Methodist Church. The Bedford Senior Center is involved as well, with a strawberry festival and treasure show.

The day opens at 9 a.m. in Samaria Park with a flag-raising, prayer, and the naming of the new honorary mayor of Samaria, who will serve until next year’s festival. At the church, across the street from the park, there will be a ho- rod show, a rummage table, baked goods for sale, and other vendors.

“The garage sales are all along Samaria Road to Jackman Road and beyond,” Ms. Wells said. Vendors may rent a space behind the church for $10, she said.
