Jamming and Jesus 

Cornerstone Church holds its free Wow Jam today at 2 p.m. at Ravine Park with a concert by Stephen and Linda Tavani. The Tavanis will also appear at a celebration service Sunday at 10 a.m. at Cornerstone, 1520 Reynolds Rd. The Wow Jam will providefamily fun and some personal services during the afternoon, including a bounce house, face painting, and a book corner for children;family photos, haircuts, makeovers, and nail painting; counseling and resume information for those seeking work and schools; bike repair; and snow cones, hot meals, and groceries. Parking for the Wow Jam is at Garfield Elementary School, 1103 N. Ravine Pkwy.

Beenes sing gospel

More than 200 Beenes from as far away as Georgia and California are at their family reunion in Toledo through Sunday, and gospel music performers from the family will appear in concert tonight at 7 at Trinity Faith Tabernacle Deliverance Center, 1302 N. Huron St., where the Rev. Patricia Ann Smith, who is a Beene, is pastor. The reunions move around, and the Beenes’ last Toledo reunion was in 2003.

At the concert, artist and evangelist Esther Smith will be the emcee, Eugene Odell Beene will play the Hawaiian guitar, and J.C. and Betty Sue Beene, who founded the Golden Wings in Tupelo, Miss., and are members of the Mississippi Mass Choir, will sing.

On Sunday at the church, the Rev. Shirley Beene, from Chicago, will speak at the 11:30 a.m. service. All are invited to both events, including those who aren’t Beenes.

Baptisms, bands, and booms

CedarCreek Church will stage its second annual Mother of All Baptisms Sunday at 6 p.m. at the church’s Perrysburg campus, 29129 Lime City Rd. Immersion baptisms of more than 400 people by pastors of CedarCreek’s campuses are anticipated in six 12-foot-by-30-foot pools on the church grounds. There will also be live music outdoors by Unspoken and by CedarCreek’s band and inflatable amusements, free food, and fireworks at 10 p.m.

The church provides free parking in its lot and will offer free shuttles from Glenwood Elementary School, 8950 Avenue Rd., Rossford, and Penta Career Center, 9301 Buck Rd., Perrysburg, for overflow parking. The festival is open to all.

Youth purpose

“Discovering and Developing My God-given Purpose” is the theme of Third Baptist Church’s youth summit, to be held Wednesday through Saturday. Wednesday is swag night from 5 to 8 p.m., with praise, dance, poetry, and Christian rap. Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m., the Rev. Calvin Sweeney will speak. Friday brings two speakers, Leslie Karen Garner and the Rev. John Hicklin, from 5 to 9 p.m. On Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be a panel discussion and break-out sessions, and the summit concludes with bowling. Admission is free, and food will be provided for free. Third Baptist is at 402 Pinewood Ave.
