Summaries of recently reviewed area restaurants.

• Crystal's, 3536 Secor Rd. in the Clarion Westgate Hotel, serves food that's a notch or two above what you might expect from similar hotel restaurants, including good soups, hefty sandwiches, huge dinner salads, and excellent entrees. $$; 4 stars.

• Ferdos Mediterranean Restaurant, 3065 West Bancroft St., specializes in the cuisine of Syria, Lebanon, Greece, and Italy. The fare includes such familiar dishes as kafta, kabobs, shish tawook, and pasta, as well as steaks, seafood, and burgers. $$; 3 stars.

• Kokopelli Sonoran Grill, 4038 Talmadge Rd., belongs to a small chain of fast-food restaurants that touts healthy, inexpensive Mexican dishes off a cafeteria line, from burritos to quesadillas. $; 2 stars.

• Mac & Tong's, 4330 West Central Ave., dishes up homemade soups, salads, fish, steaks, and teriyaki specials, along with piano music and the good cheer emanating from the proprietors. $$; 4 stars.

• Main Street Deli, 5171 Main St., Sylvania, is a tiny eatery with a big menu featuring such comfort food as Chicago hot dogs, Polish and Italian sausage sandwiches, chili mac, subs, and sloppy joes. $; 2 stars.

• Star Diner, with five outlets in the Toledo area, specializes in "big" food - big toast, three eggs, meat, omelets, and waffles for breakfast, and oversized sandwiches for lunch. $; 3 stars.
