Adding Latinos to rolls of trades is grant's aim

A construction trades group said this week it has received a grant to help boost the number of Latino construction workers in the Toledo area.

The Alliance of Construction Professionals, which includes unions and construction executives, was awarded $72,794 by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service to develop programs for recruiting more Latinos into apprenticeship programs.

The trades group plans to use the money to develop promotional brochures in English and Spanish, produce a recruitment video, and to work with Latino groups and cultural centers to identify potential apprentices.
