A Kmart store in Fremont is to “begin construction to change formats” this spring that will result in the loss of 133 jobs, the company has told the state.

In a job-loss notice filed with Ohio officials, Kmart said it would start laying off workers within two weeks after April 29. Its notice didn’t indicate whether the store at 1825 N. State Rt. 19 will remain open or be changed for another use. Kmart has closed many of its stores nationwide, including some in metro Toledo.
