BOWLING GREEN -- Wood County Common Pleas Judge Reeve Kelsey ruled Tuesday that county and Northwood city officials can seek default judgment in their quest to permanently close the Woodville Mall in Northwood.

Judge Kelsey said that because the mall owner, Mike Kohan, a real estate investor from Little Neck, N.Y., had been properly served with notice of the hearing and had failed to respond, city and county inspectors have been cleared to seek a permanent injunction closing the mall until safety issues are resolved. It was not clear how soon the inspectors would be seeking a default judgment.

Judge Kelsey had issued a temporary restraining order on Dec. 16 that closed the mall.
