Va. furniture maker to be Sauder subsidiary

ARCHBOLD, Ohio — Contract furniture manufacturer Sauder Manufacturing Co. said Monday it has acquired furniture maker Butler Woodcrafters Inc. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Butler, of Richmond, Va., makes wood furniture, known as casegoods, and seating products for customers involved in human services and higher education. It has manufacturing and warehousing facilities in Chase City, Va.

According to its Web site, it has 78 employees and has been making furniture since 1980.

Sauder said that Butler’s regional sales force and organization in Richmond and Chase City will remain intact, operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of Sauder.
