Week 7 MAC picks

10/9/2008

Eastern Michigan (0) at Army. Vegas doesn t really know or better yet doesn t really care. The scary thing is one of these teams will be on a two-game win streak after Saturday. It ll be Army.

Western Michigan (+1) at Buffalo. Western would move to 5-1 with a win and that just doesn t look right. Buffalo at 3-3 looks better. Take the Bulls.

Temple (+7.5) at Central Michigan. If the Chipps can t cover this spread then they might not be as good as any of us thought. CMU wins big.

Toledo (+16) at Michigan. +16 is also the over/under for the number of days Tom Amstutz will still be coaching at his alma mater. I ll take the over on that bet (barely) but will take Michigan to cover in this game.

Miami (+11) at Northern Illinois. How far has Miami fallen when it s giving double-digits to NIU? The boys from Oxford beat the spread but probably pick up their third consecutive loss.

Bowling Green (0) at Akron. Another line of zero. Normally I d pick the home team in this situation (see Army over Eastern). But I m going with the desperate team. Falcons win but not convincingly.

Ohio (-1) at Kent State. Bad vs. Bad. OU s bad isn t as bad as Kent State s bad, so we ll take the Bobcats to cover.

Ball State (-16) at Western Kentucky. Ball State is ripe for a letdown but it won t happen this week. Cardinals cover and move up (or is it down?) the AP rankings.

Against the spread:

Last week: 4-2

Season: 25-15-1
