New week, new outlook on the numbers provided for by the wise guys. Will E. was anything but wise last week, going a nothing-to-write-home-about 2-2-1.

This week, replenished by a tasty bowl of hot clam chowder and a chicken salad sandwich from Andre s Lounge in Toledo, we re fortified to take on the wise guys.

• PHILADELPHIA (minus-2) over Dallas: You don t think for one second this is just another regular season game, do you? This will be a fight to the finish led by two ultracompetitive players in Donovan and T.O. Eagles for 100 units.

• Pittsburgh (plus 3 ) over SAN DIEGO: OK, Will E. will bite on the team coming off a bye getting 3-plus sticks against a struggling offense. The same could be said for the Steelers. Steelers for 100 units.

• DENVER (minus 3 ) over Baltimore: Ravens are the least impressive unbeaten team in the league. Ravens offense is struggling. Broncos for 100 units.

• NEW ENGLAND (minus 9 ) over Miami: Will E. ain t touching Detroit or Cleveland this week. Can you blame him? And, what s that? Joey Harrington might play for the Dolphins today? Ha! Patriots for 100 units.

• Buffalo (plus 11) over CHICAGO: This is an inflated line by everyone who thinks the Bears are the best team in the NFL. Many talking heads are spewing Super Bowl notions for the Monsters of the Midway. Super Bowls are not won in October. Bills for 250 units.

*Home team in caps.
