Lawrence Montford has been described as a teacher of the highest caliber that Central Catholic High School is fortunate enough to have on its faculty. He is in his 38th year of teaching and 24th year at Central Catholic.

Mr. Montford has taught numerous courses in the social studies department and has served as the chairman of that department for a number of years. He received his bachelor of arts degree from St. Ambrose College in 1964, his master's degree from the University of Iowa in 1966, and his doctor of philosophy degree from St. Louis University in 1973.

"Mr. Montford currently teaches World Studies and Advanced Placement European History and challenges his students to reach the utmost of their capabilities," said Michael Kaucher, principal. "He has a reputation, deservedly so, of being very demanding, yet fair and consistent in his teaching methods. His students consistently score very high on the AP European history test. I have talked with numerous Central Catholic graduates who have expressed their sincere respect for Mr. Montford and are very grateful for the high demands that he put upon them in high school."
