Perrysburg annexes subdivision

6/14/2007

The Willowbend subdivision in Perrysburg Township will become part of the city of Perrysburg July 6.

Perrysburg council approved the annexation last week, settling the jurisdictional fate of the 138 homes located in what will become the extreme southwest of the city.

"We're looking forward to having them in the city," Perrysburg administrator John Alexander said. "Their water rates will decrease as residents and they'll have unlimited trash and brush collection. We've reconfigured our police districts to accommodate them."

It's been a long time coming.

Perrysburg and some Willowbend residents were locked in court battles, starting in August, 2002, over the city's plan to annex the subdivision in return for water service.

Perrysburg purchases its water from Toledo and then resells it to residents and nonresidents.
