    • Fort Meigs State Memorial opened its season with a program Saturday titled 'A Soldier's Life, a Hands-on History.' Getting their hands on weaponry representing the War of 1812 are, above, left, re-enactors Dan Woodward of Toledo, front, and Jacob Land of Northwood. April 5, 2008 After a long winter, Fort Meigs? gates are re-opened. Help us kick-off the 2008 season with a ?bang? as we present A Soldier?s Life, a Hands-on History Saturday program on Saturday, April 5. Witness musket demonstrations and learn about the life of a soldier or camp follower during the War of 1812 by experiencing the activities that soldiers performed on a daily basis like laundry, drilling with the musket, and marching. The program runs from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. and all activities are included with paid admission. Fort Meigs is open Wednesday through Saturday from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm and Sundays Noon to 5:00 pm. Admission is $7- Adults; $6- Seniors, $3- Students; Free- Five and under. Fort Meigs, one of 60 Ohio Historical Society sites, is located one mile west of Perrysburg, Ohio on State Route 65.
