The fort reopened its gates to the public Saturday after its winter hibernation with a presentation of 'A Soldier's Life, a Hands-on History Lesson.' The event included musket demonstrations and activities of camp life during the War of 1812. The reconstructed fort and museum make up one of 60 sites owned and operated by the Ohio Historical Society.

April 5, 2008 After a long winter, Fort Meigs? gates are re-opened. Help us kick-off the 2008 season with a ?bang? as we present A Soldier?s Life, a Hands-on History Saturday program on Saturday, April 5. Witness musket demonstrations and learn about the life of a soldier or camp follower during the War of 1812 by experiencing the activities that soldiers performed on a daily basis like laundry, drilling with the musket, and marching. The program runs from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. and all activities are included with paid admission. Fort Meigs is open Wednesday through Saturday from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm and Sundays Noon to 5:00 pm. Admission is $7- Adults; $6- Seniors, $3- Students; Free- Five and under. Fort Meigs, one of 60 Ohio Historical Society sites, is located one mile west of Perrysburg, Ohio on State Route 65.
