BOTTLES PART OF WATERVILLE HISTORY

7/2/2008

John Rose of Waterville, who is a volunteer on the archive crew at the Waterville Historical Society, displays some bottles that were found during the excavation of the downtown improvement project on North Third Street. The bottles were discovered in what was the subcellar of the old Fredericks House Hotel along the Miami and Erie Canal, which today is U.S. 24. A cold-water spring there kept bottles and kegs cool. The hotel was torn down in 1950.
