Local author and photographer Doug Grosjean will take his audience cross-country during Way Public Library's final adult summer reading program at 7 p.m. July 22.

In "Got His Kicks on Route 66," Mr. Grosjean, a resident of Pemberville, will trace the route he followed during a July, 2007 trip along historic Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles.

Accompanied by his 12-year-old son in a soft-top jeep, Mr. Grosjean traveled the old and new routes along this "patchwork" road that crosses the country. He documented the journey along one of America's oldest federal highways using antique swing-lens panoramic cameras and modern digital cameras.

Mr.Grosjean is the author of Wheels: a Story about Growing Up, about fatherhood and motorcycling with his son.

Enjoy this long trip - without spending a cent on gas. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served. The Red, White, and You adult summer reading program at the library is sponsored by the Friends of Way Library.
