Perrysburg: Leaf collection times set

10/8/2008

Leaf collection in Perrysburg will start Monday and continue through Nov. 2.

Crews will begin in older neighborhoods where the greatest concentration of leaves is found. Leaves should be out by 7 a.m. Monday in the municipal right-of-way but not the street.

A second round of collections will begin Nov. 3 and go through Nov. 23. Again, leaves should be out by 7 a.m. on starting day.

Leaves put out after completion of the second round will not be picked up.

Leaves are delivered free to residents who want to use them for mulch.

Only full loads of 12 cubic yards will be delivered. For this service call the street division at 419-872-8020.

The city compost site is open all year to city residents for leaf disposal. The hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Residents may take loose or bagged leaves to the street division, 205 East Boundary St., for inspection and to get the key.

Leaves also can be disposed of in yard waste bags left out with garbage.

The bags must have the city emblem. They can be purchased at Basset's Market, Black Diamond Nursery, Kazmaier's, Kroger, Luckey Farmers, Mills Hardware, Mini Engine Repair, Rite Aid, and the street division.

Anna Tunnicliffe, the 2001 Perrysburg High School graduate who won a gold medal for sailing in the Women's Laser Radial Class in the Beijing Olympics, will be in Perrysburg tomorrow for Anna Tunnicliffe Day, as proclaimed by the high school's Student Council.

At 11 a.m., she will meet and greet people in the high school's main office and later have lunch with the student council executive board.

She'll attend a pep rally in the gym at 2 p.m. and ride in the homecoming parade at 6:30 p.m.

SWANTON - During October, students in grades 6 through 12 will have a chance to reduce their fines by volunteering at the Swanton Public Library.

In honor of national Teen Read Month, volunteers will earn $2.50 in credit toward fine totals for every half hour worked at the library.

Those who have had their library cards revoked can also work toward reinstatement.

For details about the reduction, call the library.
