Historical society talk on Ohio's role in Civil War

10/22/2008

During the Civil War more than 313,000 Ohioans served in the Union Army from 1861-1865, and five Union officers born in Ohio went on to become president of the United States.

Those are just some of the facts about Ohio's contribution to the War Between the States that will be discussed at 7:30 p.m. Thursday during a meeting sponsored by the Holland-Springfield-Spencer Historical Society at 940 Clarion St. in Holland.

The speaker will be Mark Young, president of the American Civil War Museum of Ohio in Bowling Green, who will discuss the many contributions and sacrifices made by Ohioans during that difficult time.
