Bowling Green

•Grandparents Day is not officially celebrated until Sept. 13, but the Wood County Senior Center decided to get the party started a little early. Grandparents and grandchildren are invited to enjoy an evening of music, games, dinner, and magical entertainment at the WCCOA from 4:30 p.m.-7 Sept. 10 at 305 North Main St. Dinner consists of chicken wings, fries, coleslaw, jello, and pumpkin cheesecake. •34th annual Miss Northwestern Ohio Scholarship Pageant, a preliminary to the Miss Ohio and Miss America scholarship pageants, will be Nov. 14 in the Defiance Community Auditorium. The pageant committee is seeking female contestants between the ages of 17 and 24, who are single, never been married, or pregnant, and live, work, or go to school in Ohio. The areas of competition are talent, interview, swimsuit, and evening wear. There are no entry fees. The program is affiliated with the Children's Miracle Network, and each contestant will be asked to obtain sponsors to contribute a combined $100 to the Children's Miracle Network.
