•In recognition of World Food Day, members of the BG Woman's Club are to bring canned or dry foods to their clubhouse, 134 N. Prospect St., at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7. The donations will go toward the BG Food Pantry. Cake making supplies and birthday candles, would also be welcomed.

•34th annual Miss Northwestern Ohio Scholarship Pageant, a preliminary to the Miss Ohio and Miss America scholarship pageants, will be Nov. 14 in the Defiance Community Auditorium. The pageant committee is seeking female contestants between the ages of 17 and 24, who are single, never been married or pregnant, and live, work or go to school in Ohio. The areas of competition are talent, interview, swimsuit, and evening wear. There are no entry fees.
