Maumee

•Georgette's Art Showcase, 311 Conant St., will feature the work of the Sunshine staff on display and for sale through this month. •Eighth annual Miss Maumee Valley, Miss All-American City and Miss Fallen Timbers scholarship program will be Oct. 31 at the Maumee High School Performing Arts Center. The pageant will select three young women (ages 17-23) who will compete at the Miss Ohio Scholarship Pageant in June, 2010, as well as three teen contestants (ages 13-16) who will compete for the title of Miss Ohio's Outstanding Teen in June 2010. •Owens Community College will present "Golden Age" movies, with a screening of the silent-era film classic It's the Old Army Game at 7 p.m. Oct. 28 in the Studio Theatre on campus, 30335 Oregon Rd. Noted pianist Michael Peslikis will provide musical accompaniment to the 1926 film, and author Jan Wahl will provide first-hand personal accounts of movie star luminaries Louise Brooks, Lillian Gish, Jackie Coogan, Rita Hayworth, Robert Mitchum, and Mae West. Mr. Wahl plans a book-signing and open discussion about his recently released literary work, Dear Stinkpot: Letters From Louise Brooks in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts. •34th annual Miss Northwestern Ohio Scholarship Pageant, a preliminary to the Miss Ohio and Miss America scholarship pageants, will be Nov. 14 in the Defiance Community Auditorium. The pageant committee is seeking female contestants between the ages of 17 and 24, who are single, never been married or pregnant, and live, work or go to school in Ohio. The areas of competition are talent, interview, swimsuit, and evening wear. There are no entry fees. The program is affiliated with the Children's Miracle Network, and each contestant will be asked to obtain sponsors to contribute a combined $100 to the Children's Miracle Network.
