Otsego superintendent will double as principal

2/23/2010

TONTOGANY — Otsego Schools Superintendent James Garber plans to put on another hat next week — high school principal.

Friday is principal Ray Graves' last day of school. At 72, he is resigning to move south, Mr. Garber said.

Mr. Graves, a former superintendent of Pandora-Gilboa Schools in Putnam County, was principal at Otsego Junior High for seven years and spent the last two at the high school.

Mr. Garber said he will not be compensated “one penny” more for filling in as high school principal for the rest of the year but does intend to advertise in April for a new principal to begin next fall.

Mr. Graves is to be honored at a pep rally Friday and later that night at the Otsego-Eastwood basketball game.
