Waterville summer theater workshops offered

Summer workshops for youth and teens who are interested in the theater are being offered by the Waterville Playshop.

Children ages 8-13 - those entering third grade through seventh grade - are invited to register for the two-week experience of song and dance culminating in a group performance.

Participants can expect to have fun, explore American history through music, make new friends, and develop their vocal, acting, and movement skills.

The workshops will be held at the Monclova Community Center in Monclova from 9 a.m. to noon June 14-25.

Workshop staff includes director Kate Hoover; producer Jennifer Boney-Reynolds, and workshop assistants Dee Resnick and Kyle Zwyer

The cost is $160 per child.

Another workshop will be offered to teen performers ages 14-18 - beginning grade 9 through 12th grade - and participants will build vocal, dance, and acting skills. Participants can expect to learn age-appropriate songs, monologues, character development techniques, and dance combinations. The workshop will be from 1 to 3 p.m. June 14-25. The cost is $160 per student.

A $60 nonrefundable deposit is due at registration for both the youth and teen workshops. Completed registration forms and checks made payable to Waterville Playshop can be mailed to Jennifer Reynolds, 5078 Main St., Sylvania, Ohio 43560.

For the youth workshop, 25 participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and 15 participants will be accepted for the teen intensive workshop.
