Wood County Hospital to host blood analysis program April 30

BOWLING GREEN - The Wood County Hospital and the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce have scheduled their seventh annual blood analysis program on April 30 from 7 to 10 a.m. at the Wood County Hospital. Cost of the event is $40 for chamber investors and $50 for nonchamber investors.

The 12-hour fasting comprehensive blood analysis includes a complete cholesterol check with HDL, LDL, and triglycerides, and liver and kidney function. Also available, for $20 each, will be PSA tests for men and TSH thyroid test for men and women. Blood pressure checks are also offered.

A report of all test results will be sent to each participant's residence and optionally to the participant's physician.

Nearly 1,000 people have participated in the program since its inception.

Proceeds support the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce and Wood County Hospital Foundation Scholarship Funds.

Appointments are required. They can be made by calling the Chamber of Commerce at 419-353-7945 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Appointments will be taken until April 25, or until all spots are filled.

Other events at the hospital on April 30 include:

● Prescription drug take-back program during which people can dispose of unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications. It will be held near the hospital's main front entrance from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Acceptable items are tablets, caplets, and all other solid dosage forms of medication. Items that cannot be returned include liquids, plastic or glass pill containers, bio-hazards, used/unused syringes, drug paraphernalia, or other medical waste or contaminants.

The program is headed by the United States Drug Enforcement Agency, in collaboration with the Bowling Green police department, Wood County sheriff's office, and Wood County Hospital.

● Branching Out: Living with Diabetes, a diabetes health fair from 9 a.m. to noon in the Wood County Hospital meeting rooms, featuring speaker Mark Malinowski, D.O., interventional pain management specialist.

Food demonstrations and health screenings will be included.
