Waterville City Council is proceeding with sign, pavement marking, and curb modifications at the intersection of Farnsworth Road, Michigan Avenue, and Fifth Street.

City Council last week authorized the municipal administrator to enter into an agreement with Quinn Concrete Construction Inc. in the amount of $14,032 to extend curbs and relocate curb ramps at the intersection.

Proposed work includes: extend curbed island and eastbound stop line to improve sight distance and also relocate associated crosswalks; install LED blinkers on stop signs on Michigan Avenue and Farnsworth Road to emphasize the need to stop; upgrade signage and remove repetitive signs; install new crosswalk markings; restripe east approach for three lanes to improve traffic flow, and lengthen eastbound left-turn lane at U.S. 24.
