In Bowling Green, the community's Downtown Foundation is saying so long to summer with a special event linking snow cones with snowflakes.

During the Downtown Farmers' Market on Wednesday, a campaign will be launched to buy additional pole-mounted LED snowflakes for the downtown holiday streetscape.

Visitors to the Cheeky Tiki Grille and Smoothie Bar trailer can support the effort while sampling an icy salute to the final weeks of the season. The suggested donation to the snowflake project is $2.

Each snowflake decoration costs between $300 and $600, depending on its size.

The Downtown Farmers' Market at Clough and South Main streets is open from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays until the end of September. The market closes Oct. 17.
