Bowling Green’s Downtown Foundation is raising money to buy pole-mounted, energy-efficient LED snowflakes for the downtown holiday decorations.

The fund-raising goal is $3,000, with $775 raised so far.

The new snowflake decorations the group wants to buy are cheaper to operate and less vulnerable to casual vandalism, said Barbara Ruland, director of the special improvement district.

Other recent projects funded through the foundation include the Black Swamp Arts Festival mural in the 100 block of North Main, and the Alvie Clock and the Great Black Swamp Mural restoration in the 100 block of South Main.

Donation jars are in First Federal Bank branches at 1226 W. Wooster St. and 1200 N. Main St., as well as at several downtown businesses.

Larger donations can be made at the Downtown Bowling Green office at 121 E. Wooster, or online using PayPal at www.downtownbgohio.org.

Donations are tax deductible.
