Ohio Bicentennial maps include history

3/30/2003

New Ohio road maps commemorating the state's bicentennial are available at Ohio Department of Transportation facilities, the state announced.

Along with showing Ohio's highway network, the maps contain stories about the state's transportation history, including its development of roads, railways, water transportation, and aviation. Features on Underground Railroad routes, Ohio presidents, state facts, and bicentennial events are included as well.

ODOT prints new state highway maps every two years. Its first official highway map was published in 1912.

Copies of the new map are available at department offices and rest areas, and will be at the state fair in August.
