The state has applied for an additional grant of $46.3 million to help local public safety forces pay for planning, training, equipment, and exercises.

About $6.1 million would help reimburse costs associated with infrastructure protection during orange terrorism alert levels. The remaining $40.2 million would help with equipping and training public safety forces, planning for emergencies, and exercising contingency plans at the local and state levels.

Ohio has received $34.5 million in anti-terrorism preparedness grants from the federal government since 1999.

Lucas County will receive $436,000 of the current grant.

Other northwest Ohio counties that will receive part of the $17.5 million grant and their award totals are: Hardin, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert, and Wyandot - $67,600 each; Defiance, Fulton, Ottawa, and Williams - $87,000 each; Erie, Hancock, Huron, Sandusky, and Seneca - $111,750 each; Allen and Wood - $135,250 each.
